ALABAMA-MISSISSIPPI ALL-STAR CLASSIC

First played in 1988, the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic has established its identity as one of the South's premier football events. Annually featuring 80 of the absolute best senior high school football players and top collegiate prospects on two teams representing these two football-rich states, the game is played annually in Mobile, Alabama's Ladd-Peebles Stadium on the second Saturday in December

Over the past 22 years, the contest has built an impressive legacy of featuring close, exciting games, as well as the best home-grown talent from Alabama and Mississippi over that time -- players who have gone on to enjoy tremendous success at both the NCAA and NFL levels.

A total of 18 first-round NFL Draft and over 120 total draftees have played in the contest since its inception, an impressive list that includes stars such as Antonio Langham, Deuce McAllister, Jason Campbell, John Copeland, Cadillac Williams, Steve McNair, Willie Anderson, Andre Smith and Rolando McClain, the eighth pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

A total of 110 former All-Star Classic players are currently listed on Southeastern Conference rosters during the 2010 season. Among the current collegiate stars who played in recent Classics are wide receiver Julio Jones, tight end Preston Dial, linebacker Courtney Upshaw, defensive backs Dre Kirkpatrick and Robert Lester at Alabama, defensive tackle Nick Fairley and defensive back Zac Etheridge at Auburn, Ole Miss defensive lineman Jerrell Powe, and Mississippi State wide receiver Chad Bumphis.

This year's All-Star Classic Week in Mobile will run from December 6-11, with the game set for Saturday, December 11.

Alabama leads the all-time series against its Mississippi counterparts with 16 victories in the 23 games including last December's 21-13 win. Thirty members of the Alabama and Mississippi rosters would go on to sign letters of intent to play at SEC schools in 2010, and 50 All-Star Classic players signed scholarship offers to NCAA FBS schools.
